Pectus Deformity
Many men suffer from a pectus deformity that causes the sternum or chest to cave inward. This creates an awkward appearance to the chest. Many surgical methods have been developed to correct this deformity. They include reshaping the ribs, internal supports to the sternum, and implants. Dr. Kim prefers to place custom shaped implants to contour and smooth the central chest. Unlike “off the shelf” implants, custom chest implants can shape to the unique deformity for each individual. These are placed through small incisions in the lower chest and avoid major surgery that can affect the muscles, heart and lungs.
